Jasper
The county-run campground on Nickajack Reservoir, with a boat ramp, swimming, fishing, pavilions and a shower house. It has pull-through sites and takes rigs up to 43 feet. Campers mention highway noise.
Jasper
A lakeside campground on TVA land at Nickajack Dam with a boat ramp, dock, swimming area, playground, laundry and bathhouse. Sites are first come, first served, with a 14-day limit and a 60-foot maximum rig length.
Guild
Paved RV sites at a 74-acre marina on Nickajack Lake, with a boat ramp, boat and kayak rentals, a seasonal pool and a ship store. It suits boaters. There are no tent sites.
Sequatchie
The Fiery Gizzard State Park campground at the Foster Falls trailhead, for tents and small trailers only. The gravel loop is tight, and the longest rig campers report is 25 feet. It has a bathhouse with heated showers. Reservations are required, with a two-night minimum on most sites. Gas generators are not allowed.
Sequatchie Mountain
A 22-acre camp on top of Sequatchie Mountain that climbers and hikers use as a base for Foster Falls and Denny Cove. It has portable toilets, a seasonal outdoor hot shower (closed in winter), a communal barn and a small market. Vehicles must be under 45 feet. Book through Hipcamp.
South Pittsburg
The county's largest private RV park, on 128 acres of South Pittsburg Mountain with two private lakes, four waterfalls and 5 miles of trails. It takes rigs up to 75 feet and also has tent sites and cabins.
Whitwell
Drive-through, big-rig sites of about 85 by 30 feet with a fishing pond, a dog park and WiFi. It is open year-round. Call for the street address.
South Pittsburg
Creek, field and wooded tent sites on 138 acres with a creek, a waterfall and hiking and ATV trails. The same owners run it as CrowMocker Cabins and Camping. 4WD is required and some sites are hike-in, so it does not suit RVs.
Whiteside
About 120 off-grid acres under 20 minutes from downtown Chattanooga, with primitive sites, two A-frame glamping units and solar cabins. It has bathrooms, hot showers and firewood. A rail line runs about 200 yards away and campers report train noise.
South Pittsburg
An off-road park of more than 600 acres and 120 trails, rated green through black diamond. Camping is allowed only in developed sites. The park has drinking water, restrooms, showers and a dump station.
Whitwell
RV sites at an outdoor rodeo and concert arena, with toilets and campfires allowed. Reservations are by phone only. The arena is a separate business from the historic Ketner's Mill grounds, which are closed to public recreation.
Marion County Park & Lake, Shellmound Campground and Hales Bar Marina are all on Nickajack Lake, and each has a boat ramp.
At Foster Falls Campground, yes. Book up to a year ahead at reserve.tnstateparks.com. Shellmound takes no reservations and fills first come, first served. Marion County Park and Hales Bar Marina book by phone. The private campgrounds book through their own websites.
Sasquatch Farm, Hales Bar Marina and Harmony Mountain Christian RV Park. Marion County Park and Shellmound have water and electric.
It depends on the campground. Hales Bar Marina takes pets 25 lbs and under. Sasquatch Farm and Harmony Mountain have dog parks. Ask the others before you book.
Yes, on undeveloped TVA land, in a tent or hammock, for up to 14 days in a row in any 30-day period. You may not leave an RV unattended overnight.
