National Cornbread Festival

The National Cornbread Festival takes over downtown South Pittsburg for the weekend. The main draws are the National Lodge Cast Iron Cornbread Cook-Off and Cornbread Alley, where you sample cornbread recipes. There is also live music from bluegrass to rock, an arts and crafts market, carnival rides, a Kid’s Corner and tours of the Lodge foundry.
Ketner’s Mill Country Arts & Crafts Fair
When: the first weekend of October. Where: Ketner’s Mill, Whitwell. Check ketnersmill.org for this year’s dates.
The Ketner’s Mill fair brings regional craft makers, live music and Southern food to the grounds of a water-powered grist mill on the Sequatchie River. The mill runs during the fair, and the fair helps pay for the mill’s upkeep. The mill grounds are closed to everyday public recreation, so the fair is the way to see it.
